Thanks to federal funding, secured by local politicians, RT's Blue line will get a new station at Cosumnes River College. The story is here.
It is hoped that the line will bring 1,700 jobs to the region (of course jobs to construct the line are only temporary), and will cause businesses to pop up near the rail line and new station. It is also hoped that the rail line, which will allow South Sac residents to ride to downtown Sac, will alleviate traffic on Hwy 99.
I would like to see a bicycle path parallel to the rail line. Sacramento area bicyclists need a north-south corridor to get from Elk Grove/South Sac to Downtown Sacramento - where lots of us work. Can we build bike paths in addition to rail lines? But that is asking too much.
